Welcome to Reading Concepts 6-7
What is Reading Concepts 6-7? The curriculum for Reading Concepts is designed for students who are reading more than 2 grade levels below their current grade, usually at a primary reading level. Diagnostic assessments are conducted three times per year and student schedules are adjusted accordingly. Comprehension skills are taught across the four text types: narrative, expository, persuasive, and technical. Various strategies are designed to address student strengths and weaknesses. Explicit instruction is
delivered in the areas of word study, including phonics, comprehension, fluency and vocabulary.
This 90 minute class period features both small and large group instruction and a class size of 20
students or less.
